Offering Official Apology Would Go Some Way: Saudi Hajj Fiasco for Western Hajj Pilgrims
As if post-Covid era chaos to travelling and aspirations of many including hundreds of thousands of Muslim Hajj pilgrims wasn’t enough, the Saudi government’s unilateral withdrawal from decades’ old tried and tested personal and trade relationship with western Hajj pilgrims’ licensed Hajj tour operators from respective home community and in its place instantly handing the sole monopoly for western Hajj pilgrims to a company called Motawif has proven to be an utter disaster. Saudi gov-appointed Motawif’s misdeeds in fact further described as “rushed rollout has left thousands of Muslims in limbo, with tech glitches precluding many from booking travel.”
Despite all that, Motawif is behaving as if “all is normal” with usual announcements for e-visa even now (2 July 2022/4 Dhul Hijjah 1443AH) when the fact is the most sacred Hajj days …
